Textile Art & Mixed Media

Sarah's mixed media and textile art combines a wide range of materials.

She particularly enjoys using printing techniques to alter the surface of fabrics and a variety of papers.

These can include paper lithography, lino and mono printing, as well as using a

gelli-plate.

She then uses collage to combine the materials in layers, placing them in position using stitching by hand and machine. Often including 3 dimensional objects she has collected on walks.

There are times when the focus of Sarah's work incorporates more fabrics than paper, which she combines with the meditative practice of hand stitching using threads made of cotton, silk and linen.

She tries to be as sustainable as possible, often re-using fabrics and those that have been hand dyed with natural materials.

In the future she hopes to experiment more with the solar dyeing technique.
